DRIVES AND CONTROLS

Novoferm offers various drive systems for the automation of sectional doors: from manual solutions, ideal for doors that are used sporadically, through to electromotorised drives with pulse control, recommended for frequent and continuous use. Depending on the door configuration and operational requirements, the most suitable solution can always be found; all drive and control systems comply with EN 13241.

A selection of practical devices and control elements for operating the door is also available. In addition to the main controls, further components can be installed, e.g. on the inside or outside wall next to the door or on a dedicated column: switches, remote controls, indicator lights and other accessories.

TYPES OF DRIVES

OPERATION WITH HAND DRILL
All drive systems are equipped as standard with a mechanical emergency operating device for the electric motor, which allows the sectional gate to be opened even in the event of a power failure. The function is switched on and off manually via the gearbox cables. Once this function has been activated, the gearbox can be operated via the chain.

DRIVE WITH QUICK RELEASE
A drive with release device is also available. In this configuration, the gearbox is separated from the spring assembly by the gearbox cables, allowing the door to be opened manually more quickly in the event of a malfunction. Naturally, sectional overhead doors with quick release are equipped with a spring break safety device.

MANUAL OPERATIONS

HAND HOLDING TIE-DOWN
For doors with a surface area of less than 12 m² and occasional use, a hand hold-down drive (1:1 transmission ratio) can be chosen. However, this solution requires some physical effort and does not allow the door to be locked in the open position.

HAND-POWERED CIRCULAR TIE-BAR
The circular tie-bar requires less effort than the hand-operated tie-bar (1:1 ratio). However, it is recommended for lightly used doors (up to 12 m²), as it tends to wear out more quickly than the chain hoist. Furthermore, it is only compatible with certain configurations of partially vertical and vertical guides.

HAND-POWERED CHAIN HOIST
The chain hoist requires less effort than the hand-pulled hoist due to its 1:4 transmission ratio. Suitable for sectional overhead doors up to 30 m², it keeps the door locked in the desired position. It is a practical solution when greater manoeuvring and opening convenience is required.

ELECTRICAL OPERATIONS

ELECTRIC CONTROL DEVICE WITH MAN PRESENT
This solution is particularly suitable for doors that are used occasionally. For opening, a single push of the button is sufficient, while for closing, the control must be held down until the door is fully lowered. In this way, the operator maintains visual control of the area, reducing the risk of dangerous situations.

ELECTRICAL IMPULSE CONTROL DEVICE
For doors that are subject to frequent use, impulse control is recommended. With this system, a short command is all that is needed to start the movement: the door continues to the set end position, without having to hold the button down. The bottom edge is equipped with an anti-forcible lift device and a contact strip for obstacle detection.

HIGH SPEED DRIVE
Ideal for frequently used doors, thanks to its high manoeuvring speed and low energy consumption. The system is available in two versions: with direct drive (0.2-0.4 m/s) or with frequency converter (up to 0.6 m/s). It is particularly suitable for high height and high operation gates (e.g. fire brigade garages). In both variants, closing takes place at normal speed.

TYPES OF CONTROLS

BASIC CONTROL UNIT T75
T75 is a basic control unit for industrial sectional overhead doors. It is equipped with a 3-button control unit and connections for closing edges, light barriers, slack rope switch and pedestrian door contact (not for low threshold). This control unit can be equipped with a 433 MHz radio module. The system is man-present, with the possibility of expansion limited to pulse control. It is a reliable solution for standard applications, where clear and immediate functions are required.

PREMIUM CONTROL UNIT T100
T100 is a practical and complete premium control unit. It integrates a display in the lid, a 3-button control and a dedicated half-opening button. It also has all the necessary connections for closing edges, light curtains, slack rope switch and pedestrian door contact. It also allows the programming of functions such as automatic closing and locking of the door. It is suitable for motors up to 3 kW and offers further connection possibilities for additional controls and commands.

CONTROL ELEMENTS OF THE CONTROL UNITS

SWITCH WITH LOCK
The main switch allows the power supply to be switched off for safe maintenance work on the locking system. The padlock acts as an additional protection, preventing unauthorised personnel from accidentally reactivating the power supply during operations.

MINIATURE LOCK
The miniature lock disables the control unit keypad, preventing unauthorised operation of the door. Only authorised personnel in possession of the key can re-enable the controls and use the door after activation, to ensure operational security.

EMERGENCY STOP
If local, national or international regulations require that the electrical movement of a sectional door can be interrupted by means of a rapid stop, an emergency switch can be installed on the control section to immediately stop the drive if necessary.

ADDITIONAL CONTROL ELEMENTS

KEY SWITCH
Dedicated key switch for operating the door, which can be installed on the outside wall to allow use by authorised personnel only. It is available in two versions: flush-mounted (more integrated and discreet) or surface-mounted/over-wall (quicker to install). The ideal solution when access control is required and opening from the outside is to be managed securely.

ELECTRONIC KEYPAD
If 24/7 access to the door is required, an electronic keypad can be installed. This solution allows opening by code, without keys, and is particularly convenient when continuous access to protected pick-up or delivery points is required. It is ideal, for example, for transport companies and couriers who also operate at night.

TRIPLE BUTTON
When the door needs to be controlled from several points or remote control is required, e.g. from a porter's lodge, anadditional control unit can be installed. This control unit reproduces the same controls as on the main box, with dedicated buttons for opening, stopping and closing, offering practical and immediate management from a secondary location.

CATENACCIO
Manually operated doors are equipped as standard with a spring-loaded mechanical deadbolt integrated into the sliding guides. This device allows the door to be locked and contributes to greater security and stability when the door is in the closed position.

PULL SWITCH
The pull switch allows the forklift driver to operate the door from a seated position. It is ideal for frequent access and to avoid the distribution of remote controls to many operators. It is usually mounted on a dedicated frame, a few metres in front or behind the door, to be easily accessible during manoeuvres.

REMOTECONTROL (433 MHZ)
The door locking system can be easily converted to a remote control version. It is possible to choose 2- or 4-channel transmitters, capable of controlling two or four different doors respectively. With this option, the door must also be equipped with a fixed safety light curtain.

TELECOMMAND (869.8 MHZ)
Particularly robust hand-held transmitters are also available as options, in 3-, 15-, 16- or 99-channel versions, which can be combined with an external 230 V receiver. The receiver allows the connection and control of up to 3 gates simultaneously.
